About Bassyana
Bassyana is a platform created to keep producers, farmers, agronomists, and anyone interested in biological agriculture informed and inspired.
Here, I will share my exploration on the global landscape of biologicals — from regulatory changes and innovations to market trends and where the industry is heading next.
Whether you're looking to set up your own lab, deepen your understanding of biological inputs, or simply stay informed about the latest trends and breakthroughs, my goal is to give you the context, clarity, and practical insights to navigate the fast-evolving world of biologicals.
About me
My name is Lina, and I'm the founder of Bassyana.
I grew up in an agricultural region of Colombia, surrounded by endless rows of rice and corn. From an early age, I saw firsthand how pests and diseases could devastate crops — leading to heartbreaking losses for the farmers around me and, ultimately, less food available for the people.
That experience sparked something in me — a deep interest in how we could improve plant health and make them more resilient, and more productive, without relying so heavily on chemicals.
That passion led me to pursue a degree in Industrial Microbiology, where I focused on the industrial application of microorganisms in agriculture. I wanted to understand how bacteria, fungi, and other microbes could actually work for the farmer — improving soil health, enhancing nutrient availability, and protecting plants from stress.
Life took me to Australia where I continued my path in agriculture by completing a Master of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Melbourne. That experience opened my eyes to the broad research happening across the Australian ag sector — from climate-resilient cropping systems to cutting-edge biological solutions being trialed right now in the field.
Today, I combine my technical training with hands-on experience to help others, especially those in transition toward more sustainable practices. Understand how biological inputs like bioinoculants, biocontrols, and biofertilizers work, and how they can be produced or used effectively.
